PLAS Consulting Engineers was set up by Pádraig Leahy in 2007 to provide engineering and management services to the manufacturing industry. From a background in plastics we have expanded our operations to include the Food & Beverage, Medical Device, Pharmaceutical & Chemical and other sectors. Our unique blend of practical engineering experience combined with years of applied project management gives us the ability to implement a 'best fit' solution for a wide range of design, operational and manufacturing challenges.
In today's competitive economic climate there is constant pressure to produce goods better, faster and cheaper. You will find PLAS to be an ideal partner in helping you review allocation of resources, carrying out capability analysis on your current processes, and overseeing the implementation of process improvements or the development of new ones.
In addition to our core competence PLAS has years of experience in cooperating with specialists in other fields in order to provide the optimum solution to any challenge. Our network of associates includes specialists in Industrial Design, Machine Safety & CE Marking, Control Systems, Software Engineering and many more. We fully appreciate that project plans may have to adapt to the demands and constraints of manufacturing. After all, nobody plans a breakdown, but when it happens you need to be able to call in people you can depend on. So our commitment to you is that we will help you solve your problem, or we will help you find someone who can.
An SME food producer was producing retail meals in two large industrial scale kitchens. After receiving investment they were seeking to increase production by a multiple of five without moving from the existing factory building. An appropriate factory layout was designed incorporating machinery and automation to increase capacity with greatly reduced production costs. The new factory layout was implemented without interrupting supply to the existing customer base.
An inventor of a new product was seeking to develop his idea and get it to market. PLAS was contracted to conduct a feasibility study. Market research including online surveys was carried out. A prototype was design and produced. After successful field trials a manufacturing plan was prepared and costed. The conclusion of the study was quite positive and the product was brought to market within a year.
A multinational manufacturing company was suffering significant downtime on a weekly basis due to breakdowns in its robotic handling equipment. PLAS investigated the problem, discovered the cause, redesigned the faulty equipment and managed its replacement. The net result was no more downtime.
